19th C. New Hampshire Tin Plate Snuff Box Signed
A really sweet New Hampshire tin plate snuff box, c. 1860-1870.
The box is signed by maker Charles Parker of Meriden Connecticut with the patent date of January 24, 1860.
Importantly, the snuff box interior paper is signed in nice script by the owner Emily Lawrence of Troy NH. The U.S.
Federal Census lists an Emily Lawrence of Troy, Cheshire County, New Hampshire from 1850-1880 of
approximate age of 30 years in 1850. She does not appear in the 1890 census. The census record also indicates
she was born in Massachusetts.
In good old surface, the box is in very good condition with no repairs or breaks. All working parts, including the
snap close, function very well. The box measures approximately 3 1/8" by 2 1/16" and stands about 3/4" tall.
