Roswell Gleason American Pewter Camphene Oil Lamp, c. 1821-1871
A very good Roswell Gleason (Dorchester MA), 1822-1871, camphene oil pewter lamp with a lozenge font. This
lamp has a camphene burner (with brass threads), not the more typically seen whale oil burner, and has the
Roswell Gleason eagle mark (J-145) touch mark.
The lamp burner is original to the lamp. The lamp stands approximately 6-3/4" to the top of the burner (5-1/2" to
the top of the font) and, aside from minor imperfections, is in overall excellent condition.
