HENRY HOPPER PEWTER SAUCER-BASED CHAMBER OIL LAMP, NEW YORK 1842-1847

A fine condition marked whale oil chamber lamp by Henry Hopper of New York City, 1842-1847.  The acorn font
lamp has decorative banding, saucer base and ring handle. The lamp stands 4-3/4" tall to the top of the  burners,
with a base diameter of  approximately 4-1/2".

Pewter discoveries are still being made and it has been recently determined that Henry Hopper used more than
one touch mark.  Very similar to his known larger serrated edge touch mark, Henry also had at least one other
smaller die, the die that marked this lamp.  The smaller mark was first published by Dr. Melvyn Wolf in the Vol. 13,
No. 6,  Winter 2006 edition of
The Bulletin put out by the Pewter Collectors' Club of America.
