Love Pennsylvania Pewter 10" Basin, ca. 1750-1825

Pewter with the Lovebirds, London and Crowned X  marks all came from a series of  pewterers believed to have
begun with Abraham Hasselberg of Philadelphia and John Andrew Brunstrom (his future son-in-law).  The
Lovebirds touch mark possibly originated with the Moravian Church of Bethlehem, PA, of which Hasselberg (and
also Johann Christoph Heyne) was a member before moving to Philadelphia. The mark was later passed to other
Philadelphia makers.

Larger basin sizes are much scarcer than more typical 8" range sizes and this 10" size basin is fairly difficult to
find. The basin is in fine condition with only a few surface blemishes. The 9/16" rim is well-turned. The basin is
also 2-5/8" deep.
